As part of its HK$6.8 billion ($876 million) reinvention, Ocean Park has partnered with The Sandbox, an Ethereum-based decentralized NFT game metaverse, to offer new digital entertainment experiences.

“As Ocean Park praises its 45th commemoration in 2022, the Park is changing itself in numerous imaginative ways,” Ivan Wong, CEO of Ocean Park, stated.

“Not only are we revamping the Park into brand-new retail, dining and entertainment, wellness and adventure zones, but we are also heading into the metaverse to reimagine the way we engage consumers, the way they connect with one another, and their adventures at Ocean Park.”

Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ocean Park to The Sandbox metaverse. As one of Asia’s most dynamic leisure and resort destinations, Ocean Park also plays an iconic role in Hong Kong’s cultural and entertainment landscape.”

“We will work with them on setting the first example of how entertainment can be leveraged with NFTs and play-and-earn to engage and reward both local visitors and those from around the globe,” Borget added.

Partnership with The Sandbox

In terms of implementation, the team plans to fill its virtual environment at The Sandbox with innovative material and items that are particularly Ocean Park-themed. As a result, visitors will be able to enjoy the theme park in an entirely new light.

Ocean Park also plans to offer user-generated material to its platform in the future. Ultimately, management plans to approach 2022 by transforming the brand in a variety of unique ways.

The Park is currently undergoing a significant change, with the inclusion of brand-new shopping, dining, and recreation facilities, as well as wellness and adventure sections. Hence, entering the Metaverse to rethink their customer experience is a logical progression.

Their partnership with The Sandbox is one of the Park’s major initiatives, and it’s a critical step for the firm. It enlists the Park to promote exciting experiences, events, and products in previously unseen designs, as well as to expand into new business lines made possible by innovation.

Offering digital entertainment experiences

Wong also added: “We will fill our virtual land at The Sandbox with creative content and offerings that are distinctively Ocean Park. We are confident that our fans and the NFT community will welcome the opportunity to explore Ocean Park in a whole new dimension while creating and sharing their user-generated content on our platform.”

Ocean Park, being one of Asia’s most prominent recreation and resort destinations, also plays an important role in Hong Kong’s social and entertainment sector. They will collaborate to create the primary example of how amusement may be used with NFTs and play-and-acquire to attract and reward both local and international visitors.

In the meantime, The Sandbox has collaborated with Ubisoft to integrate Ubisoft game IP components into The Sandbox gaming metaverse.

Ubisoft will have its own LAND diversion aim with intuitive interactions, and voxel characters and objects will likewise be available for gamers and makers to incorporate into their own experiences employing The Sandbox’s free VoxEdit and Game Maker #nocode production tools.
