Tokens.com Luxury District to host Metaverse Fashion Week 2023
Decentraland will host Metaverse Fashion Week 2023 from March 28 to 31, staged in Token.com’s opulent Luxury Fashion District.
This year’s event will mark the second fashion week held in Decentraland, coming hot off the heels of Metaverse Fashion Week 2022’s success. Last year’s fashion week was pioneered by NFT marketplace UNXD, partnering with metaverse groups like OVER and Spatial to showcase the possibilities of Decentraland’s virtual reality technology.
Organized by the Metaverse Group, a subsidiary of Token.com, this year’s event will bring back luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana and DKNY, which are some of UNXD’s closest brand partners. Other than Decentraland, Spatial and OVER will also return to host the event in their metaverses.
The Metaverse Group will also introduce participants to new land rentals and digital architecture services for future Decentraland real estate properties.
New events and experiences
This year, the Metaverse Group plans to actively maintain the event’s luxury atmosphere. Some of last year’s brands, like Hèrmes Birkin and Jacob & Co, may not return, though other big-name titles like Ben Bridge will open their first stores in the metaverse.
As mentioned above, Dolce & Gabanna makes their comeback with an exhibition space filled with designs from their Future Reward contest. The contest highlighted new talents in the luxury fashion scene by hosting them through the co-branded Wearables collection, later to be displayed on Dolce & Gabanna’s sumptuous metaverse stage.
Tommy Hilfiger will also feature a design contest during the Metaverse Fashion Week, with the winners chosen by the face of the company. The brand’s stage this year will display the power of artificial intelligence technology through its AI-generated fashion collection, along with several collaborations and product drops.
In a surprising and historic move, Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW) will host runways and panels in its L’Atelier space for this year’s Metaverse Fashion Week. MIAFW will be the first internationally-acclaimed fashion week to take part in Metaverse Fashion Week festivities.
DKNY will also make an appearance with its DKNY.3 venue. The venue will host an art gallery, rooftop lounge and pizzeria, with participants being allowed to marvel at the metaverse version of DKNY’s iconic SoHo wall.
DUNDAS and DressX are collaborating this year to showcase new Wearables inspired by Paris Fashion Week. UME will also create the lineup’s avatars, expanding and showcasing the capabilities of wearables.
Amorepacific and Ben Bridge are both opening up new lands and opportunities in the metaverse. Amorepacific, a South Korean cosmetics brand, will reveal its “New Beauty Land” metaverse space, inspired by its native headquarters.
The famous US jeweler Ben Bridge will also set up shop in the metaverse for the first time. Their stage will allow participants to grab exclusive wearables and in-store benefits through a quest.
Finally, Monnier x Republic makes a return to the runway. It will announce the Creators Prize to end the event, rewarding and celebrating creatives in the Web 3.0 world. Attendees will also witness various installations and experiences, including a heartfelt tribute to Vivienne Westwood entitled “Dear Vivienne.”
