Christiano Ronaldo, Manchester United release NFT collections
The epicenter of English football, Manchester United, and their legendary player, Cristiano Ronaldo, have delved into the cryptocurrency world with the launch of the Manchester United digital collectibles and CR7 NFT collection.
The Red Devils’ maiden NFT collection is part of a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the Tezos blockchain. The team’s digital assets are designed to connect Manchester United with its massive global fanbase by allowing them to “own” pieces of its history.
“Much like the football traditions of old, such as collecting match programmes, club badges and sticker books, fans will soon have the additional option to collect this new type of digital memorabilia,” Manchester United CEO of digital products and experiences Phil Lynch.
The NFTs will cost around £30 or $35.61. The team promises to donate 20 percent of all proceeds to the Manchester United Foundation charity.
The team has created a specialized Twitter account called “Collect MUFC” to demonstrate its long-term ambition in engagement through digital collectibles.

CR7 NFT collection
The 37-year-old Ronaldo has collaborated with the cryptocurrency exchange Binance to launch his first non-fungible token (NFT) collection on November 18, 2022. Binance officially announced the launch in June to introduce his fans to Web3 via the world of NFTs.
The NFTs will be available for purchase by Binance registered users worldwide using Binance Pay on its official NFT platform.
“We believe the metaverse and blockchain are the future of the internet,” said Binance CMO He Yi. “We are honored to collaborate with Cristiano to help more people understand blockchain and showcase how we are building Web3 infrastructure for the sports and entertainment industry.”
The Manchester United forward said wanted to create something memorable for his fans because they are such an essential part of his success.
“With Binance, I was able to create something that not only captures the game’s passion but also rewards fans for their years of support,” The five-time Ballon D’or winner said.
Ronaldo’s first NFT collection includes seven animated statues with four rarity levels — Super Super Rare (SSR), Super Rare (SR), Rare (R), and Normal (NR) (N). Each NFT statue portrays Ronaldo at a monumental point in his career.
The Binance NFT marketplace will auction off the 45 highest-valued CR7 NFTs (5 SSR and 40 SR). The auction will be open for 24 hours. Bidding for the SSR NFTs will begin at 10,000 BUSD, and SR will start at 1,700 BUSD. The remaining 6,600 NFTs (600 R and 6,000 N) will be available on Binance starting from 77 BUSD.
Each rarity level will have its unique advantages. Holders can have personal messages from Ronaldo, autographed CR7 and Binance merchandise, guaranteed access to all future CR7 NFT drops, complimentary CR7 “Mystery Boxes,” and VIP entry into giveaways with signed merchandise and prizes.
The first 1.5 million Binance users who open an account using the referral code RONALDO and complete the KYC process will receive a Cristiano Ronaldo Mystery Box. These boxes may contain limited-edition Ronaldo NFTs.
