World’s first playable AAA MMO web3 game Delysium raises $4 million in first round private sale
The world’s first playable AAA MMO web3 game Delysium has secured over $4 million in its first round of private sales. Leading the investment was Galaxy Interactive, joined by Republic Crypto, and Alameda Research, with Anthos Capital, Eureka Meta Capital, Y2Z Ventures, Tess Ventures, Zonff Partners, Infinity Ventures Crypto, Lucid Blue Ventures, Unix Gaming, Ancient8, PathDAO, YGG SEA, Mask Network, Smarti Labs, Metasense DAO and other institutions.
The team behind the game said that the funding would be used mainly to support the production of the game as well as its ecosystem. Later in the middle of this year, Delysium is expected to launch its Alpha & Beta version with a PVP tournament.
About the game
The game is set in the year 2045. At the time, “humanity stopped all space expeditions and called everybody back”.
“With gradual return, you notice how your home has changed. Those that stayed behind during the Scramble for Space were left with a huge labor shortage,” Delysium writes on its website.
“In which they had to start using—what was originally intended for laboratory research and curiosity development—artificial intelligence to replace human labor. Applications of AI into every aspect of life had completely transformed what is meant by “intelligence”, and exponential technological growth within every scope and sphere had pushed the remaining humanity on Earth past the singularity point.
“In 2045 CE, we did find new land. But not out there… The singularity snapshot another world into existence within the digital domain. A new pangea completely made of zeros and ones. A cradle functioning under their own rules and models of being—building blocks for the continuation of human consciousness and civilized life.
“We call this land, Delysium.”
The game is a cyberpunk-themed open-world, MMORPG, and UGC that allows players to earn tokens, NFTs, game resources, among others as loot boxes by paying the available game modes. These tokens and NFTs can be sold in the marketplace or be consumed to upgrade their characters, weapons, and clothing.
In addition to creating their very own buildings and crafting weapons and cyberbodies, players also own all of their physical assets in the game, which include MetaBeings, virtual creatures, cyberbody, weapons, vehicles, and environmental objects.
“With #AI-powered MetaBeings massively distributed in the experience created and owned by the players, @The_Delysium is committed to buidling an access to the supreme #Web3 game experience for all players,” the game wrote on Twitter while releasing its teaser trailer.
Delysium is led by Y-Combinator technology company rct AI. As opposed to the current trend in the web3 gaming industry in which turn-based strategy games and trading card games are the most popular, Delysium focuses on its AAA open-world MMORPG experiences, meaning players are expected to immerse in battle, exploration, construction, cultivation, social and AI-driven MetaBeing gameplay.
“Thanks to the joint efforts of multiple partners and internal teams, we are working closely to accelerate the development process of Delysium,” said Delysium and rct AI CEO Yuheng Chan. “We believe that Delysium will become a bridge between web2 and web3 gamers, and we also aim to have Delysium as an anchor for us to continue exploring the future of web3 through AI.”
