Virtus.pro – G2 Esports

It was a real blood bath in the first game of the series on Mirage. Both teams started their playoff run with passion and won back-to-back rounds to have the advantage in the series. Despite G2 Esports’ 3-0 start to the map, Virtus.pro bounced back and answered their opponent by winning five rounds in a row. Virtus.pro had a small lead in the first half. They led the game with a score of 9-7 but G2 Esports’ answer wasn’t late. The game went both ways and finally to overtime, in which G2 picked up the win with a score of 25-22. Their youngest member, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov finished the game with 45 kills and a +11 K/D Diff. On the other side, Evgeny “FL1T” Lebedev’s efforts weren’t enough even though the Russian player picked up 39 kills with a +8 K/D Diff.

After winning the first game in 47 rounds, G2 Esports’ players had confidence inside but Virtus.pro looked lost on Ancient. This time, G2 didn’t need any savior independent show as they played the map perfectly as a team. All the players had positive K/Ds but JACKZ stepped up for sure with 19 kills. The second map ended 16-5 in favor of the European team. Farewell to Virtus.pro as their IEM Katowice 2022 run is done after getting eliminated in the quarterfinals.

FaZe Clan – Gambit Esports

Most of the fans expected a close matchup between these two teams on Dust2 but it was totally a one-sided victory for the side of FaZe Clan. Especially with Robin “ropz” Kool’s MVP performance, it was hard to stop them. The Estonian player secured 20 kills and held a +12 K/D Diff to carry his team to glory. FaZe Clan won the opening map with a score of 16-5 to also get psychological supremacy over Gambit Esports. On the Gambit side, Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov didn’t have his best performance as he finished the game with a -10 K/D Diff, securing only 8 kills.

It was such a close game after seeing these teams’ competition in the first map of the series. This time, Gambit Esports resisted FaZe Clan’s pressure until the very end. After losing the opening map without showing any pulse, it was interesting to see them keep their mentals up. However, FaZe once again proved their worth by snatching the competition at the very end of the second map, Inferno. The European roster closed out the series with a 16-11 win on Inferno to face Heroic in the semifinals.
