Gala Games announces two mobile-focused Web3 games

Gala Games has announced its partnership with OneUniverse and NDream to release two multiplatform Web3 games optimized for the mobile experience.

OneUniverse is developing Champions Arena, a turn-based RPG where players can collect over 100 NFT Champions. Each NFT Champion can be customized with NFT equipment and evolve into more powerful versions of themselves. These Champions can take part in real-time PvP battles, coop missions and PvE campaigns or participate in dispatch missions, earning resources without needing player control.

NDream will create Eternal Paradox, a 4X and MMORPG hybrid. The game will combine traditional 4X (Explore, Exploit, Expand and Exterminate) grand strategy gameplay with turn-based RPG battles. Players can cooperate with and compete against one another for control over the map. A large draw of the game is the mercenary heroes system, which players can develop through in-game activities. Ownership over digital lands can give players a place to train their mercenaries, upgrade their facilities or forge alliances with other players.

What sets these games apart from competitors is their focus on the mobile platform experience. Other Web3 games have been ported to mobile, but Champions Arena and Eternal Paradox are explicitly designed for the platform. The selection of blockchain games on mobile has been limited, but Gala Games is looking to change that with these titles.

“Both Eternal Paradox and Champions Arena can offer our community unique gaming experiences that they just can’t get anywhere else. It’s a privilege to be able to work with great studios like OneUniverse and NDream to get their games to a wider audience,” said the president of games at Gala Games, John Osvald, as per Yahoo Finance.

Community-driven approach

Gala Games is committed to developing the Web3 gaming ecosystem, with over 20 titles currently in development. The company aims to offer AAA-level experiences for blockchain games. One thing that sets Gala Games apart from other studios is its community-driven approach to ownership and ecosystem hosting. The Gala Games network is decentralized and relies on players hosting individual nodes on their computers — giving players more control over the development process of the ecosystem.

“Players and node owners will be enlisted, via distributed voting mechanisms, to help determine what games should be added to the platform or what should be funded by the decentralized Gala Games ecosystem,” wrote Gala Games.

Gala Games believes that decentralization and Web3 will be the next phase of gaming and entertainment as a whole. It believes that decentralization will heavily affect how digital media will be perceived and created, with both users and artists able to interact in never-before-seen ways.

“I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think this was literally the next phase of the internet. Everything that touches ownership is going to be affected by what’s happening here,” wrote chief executive officer and co-founder of Gala Games Eric Schiermeyer.

“Art and music and everything that has a digital life is going to be touched by this. Anything that you thought was digital that you thought you owned but didn’t really own — that’s what’s about to be revolutionized.”
