Game developer RisingWings announced on May 8 that the first-ever NFT minting for Profile Picture (PFP) will be released for its own global blockchain-based esports service, COMPETZ.

RisingWings prepared 1,000 PFP NFTs, which were issued for first minting through blockchain platform BORA PORTAL on May 10. Meanwhile, on May 9, the developer opened an advanced deposit period to anyone interested in the minting.

In addition to PFP NFTs, RisingWings also announced plans to release game skin NFTs sometime in the future.

“In addition to the first PFP minting, we are also planning to issue a game skin NFT, so please stay tuned for more information about the various events we have scheduled for the future,” RisingWings Vice President Moon-chul Kang said.

More on RisingWings, COMPETZ’s PFP NFTs

RisingWings is a subsidiary of a South Korean collective of independent gaming development studios, KRAFTON, best known for the hit battle royale title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

RisingWings is also a South Korean developer studio that focuses heavily on mobile game development, with a gaming portfolio that expands to various genres, from real-time strategy to casual gaming. The developer’s previous titles include the Castle and King series.

This year, RisingWings confirmed that they would add more titles to COMPETZ that would allow players to play easy but hard-to-master games such as Solitaire, Bingo, Pool, Mini Golf, and Hunting.

This time, however, RisingWings is heading in the direction of digital collectibles that are NFT.

“To drive excitement for the upcoming games to be serviced in COMPETZ, we have scheduled the first official PFP minting for users to enjoy,” the Vice President added.

In order to participate in the first minting stage, users are required to make an advanced deposit which began from May 9 at 7 pm to May 10 at 7 p.m. KST. Only then, users are allowed to head straight to the first minting.

The first minting of COMPETZ’s NFTs has been scheduled for May 10 at 8 p.m. KST on BORA PORTAL and will only last for one hour. The developer also has confirmed that users who purchased the PFP NFTs will receive additional benefits.

Benefits for users

The first benefit of the NFTs as confirmed by the developer is the opportunity for users to receive a portion of profits made from entry fees revenue of playable titles on COMPETZ, set to release later this year.

Users who own PFP with the rarest tag will receive greater rewards and the applied benefits will stack if users have more than one NFT. PFP’s NFTs have five levels of rarity, namely common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary.

The second benefit is that owners will be exposed to minting opportunities in the future in addition to the right to purchase future collectibles at a cheaper price.

The third and last benefit is the airdrop event that will be made available only for users who purchased PFP. The event will award each user with 1,000 BORA Tokens (tBORA). Those who have three or more PFPs are also eligible for 300 tBORAs.
