League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary competition for League of Legends esports in South Korea. This league consists of ten teams and two seasons per year called splits. The LCK serves as the direct route to qualification for the annual League of Legends World Championship.

The LCK is the most competitive League of Legends (LoL) leagues due to South Korea’s dominance in the LoL community. The summer split for this year’s LCK is underway as teams fight for a spot at the League of Legends World Championship. Liiv SANDBOX Preview

SANDBOX Gaming or Liiv SANDBOX is coming off two great wins after a rocky to the LCK Summer Split. Coached by Joker, Micro and Travel, they are looking to make a splash in the LCK this year.

Currently unranked in the world, SANDBOX is stepping into 2021 with some impressive finishes. SANDBOX finished 2nd in the KeSPA Cup 2019 and seventh in the 2020 LCK. They are currently sitting at 2W and 2L and could potentially take this two-game win streak into their next match with Gen.G.

Gen.G Preview

Gen.G Esports is currently number one in the LCK standings after their dominant 4-0 start. Gen. G is well known in the LoL community, competing in two of the last three League of Legends World Championships.

In 2020 Gen.G,ade it to the quater-finals of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. Gen.G is currently looking like a scary contender to win this year’s LCK as they are the only undefeated team left after they took down T1. Gen.G showed they are the largest threat to world champions DWG KIA. In Gen.G’s last matchup with T1, they fell 0-1 but managed to turn the tides immediately in the second game thanks to both mid-laner Gwak” Bdd” Bo-seong and bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk having the carry performances we are used to from them.

Who Wins and Why

It would be fun to say that SANDBOX could take their momentum from their last two victories into their matchup with Gen.G and get the victory; however, the winner of this match will likely be Gen.G. Gen.G has been dominant in this year’s LCK. LoL fans have faith that they could take the crown as the best team in South Korea. This team has shown that they can weather controversy in matches and come back dominantly to win a series. SANDBOX has shown promise. However, it feels like Gen.G is the team of destiny right now.
