The next LCK season will start on June 9, the same day that League of Legends Path 11.12 is scheduled to be released and will finish on August 15.

Riot released the tournament schedule a few days ago across the LCK social media pages.

This tournament might be the first time we see the last two champions released, Viego and Gwen, in the LCK. These champions could change the odds and predictions that keep favoring DWG KIA, especially after losing the MSI grand finals against RNG. Not only that, DAMWON Gaming won the two LCK championships in a row, as well as the 2020 Summer Split.

This time, they will play the Group Stage in Double-Round Robin, Best-of-Three format. Each team plays 18 matches to qualify for the Playoffs (if land between first and sixth place) or not.

The Playoffs will consist of Best-of-Five, Single Elimination matches, with the winner automatically securing a spot into 2021’s World Championship.
These are ten of the best South Korean teams that will compete for a ₩375,000,000 (estimated $338,453) prize pool.

Top Teams Heading Into The LCK 2021 Summer Split

Right now, the top three teams on the leaderboard are:

First – DAMWON Gaming: In the words of Jeon “Caster Jun” Yong-Jun himself: “Who can stop DK?”. They have won two LCK Championships in a row and the 2020 Worlds championship. More recently, they also won LCK 2021 Spring Split.

Second – Gen.G Esports: Although they lost against T1 in 2020’s LCK Spring Split, they achieved win the Regional finals 3 to 0. On the other hand, they got first place last year in Summer Split.

Third – Hanwha Life Esports: With an incredible jump from ninth to third place since 2020 LCK Summer to this day, this team has evolved a lot. Enough to be placed on top of T1.

Of course, the rest of the teams can prove me wrong, scale to the top of the ladder, and surprise us all. I’m talking about Afreeca Freecs, DRX, KT Rolster, and Nongshim RedForce.
