OnlyFans founder collaborates with Polygon to launch Zoop, NFT card platform

OnlyFans creator RJ Phillips has announced his partnership with Polygon, Ethereum’s decentralized scaling platform, to launch a celebrity-themed digital trading card platform called Zoop.

The new ecosystem will feature officially licensed digital cards of celebrities and influencers, due to Zoop’s collaboration with different media companies, according to a press release. The platform will offer users the opportunity to purchase, sell, own and trade 3D digital playing cards of their favorite celebrities.

Zoop

Phillips, who will serve as co-CEO of Zoop, shared his vision for the platform as a “win for celebrities” and Zoop will be a pioneer for celebs to interact with their fans in a new way.

“Zoop is the trusted home for authentic celebrity card drops, enabling all fans, regardless of their technical expertise, to participate in the web3.0 space,” Phillips said quoted from Financial Post.

“We hold users’ hands as they compete in acquiring digital collectibles in the auction process, show off their holdings to friends and ‘collect-to-connect’ with their favorite celebrities of today and tomorrow.

Phillips later added that Zoop will be available for the public around summer this year.

“Zoop provides access to communities based on the cards users own, and rewards points to users for their interactions with each other and within these communities. We are excited to be launching Summer 2022,” he added.

Zoop does not want to miss the blockchain gamification market booming, as the market recorded a $40 billion worth of industry by 2021. Data shows the industry is expected to reach $147 billion by 2026.

Besides Phillips, Tim Stokely will join Zoop as co-CEO this summer. Stokely, who served as CEO of OnlyFans until December 2021, brings a profound knowledge of the content creator business and a proven track record in building a widely-recognized tech unicorn.

Prior to the official launch, Zoop is giving out perks and airdrops for a limited amount in their Priority Passes (PP) feature. Priority Passes holders will have exclusive early access to both in-app and real-life and these perks are already available on Zoop’s website.

Polygon Studios

Polygon Studios COO Michael Blank hailed this partnership and could not wait to see how far this collaboration will take both companies in NFT and the gamification market.

“We’re delighted to be working with the Zoop team as they build out their platform on Polygon. Zoop aligns with our mission to bring Web3 technologies to a much broader demographic, and allowing fans to connect to their favorite celebrities via Polygon is another step towards this goal,” Blank said.

Polygon Studios has been providing Zoop with a variety of services such as Web3 game design and distribution, technical support and asset expansion.

Both Polygon and Zoop are aiming to reach a wider audience as Zoop is creating its digital marketplace integrated with Polygon’s global influence of blockchain network. Polygon has also expressed commitment to reaching carbon-negative for its NFTs collections by the end of 2022.
